Screening Premiere Tonight Of Indie Comedy Feature "CornerStore"

Joe Doughrity’s CornerStore premieres TONIGHT, Wednesday, August 10th, 7:30pm, at AMC Southfield in Detroit, MI, where the film was also shot.

The comedy “chronicles one eventful summer day at a convenience store on Detroit’s Six Mile Road,” with episodes revolving around the middle class Jenkins family who own the joint (papa Earl, his son Gerard, an aspiring chef, and daughter Gail, “a fun-loving yet sneaky twenty-something.“), and their eccentric group of customers (winos, gangsters, thieves, kids, and more).

The cast includes Roger Guenveur Smith, who I’m sure we all know, Judge Mathis, Trick Trick (rapper), Dwele (R&B crooner), and a special guest appearance by boxing champ and native Detroiter (as are the rest of the cast) Tommy Hearns.

The film debuted at the Pan African Film Festival earlier this year, and has played at a number of film festivals since then, including winning the Best Detroit Comedy Award at the Detroit-Windsor International Film Festival in June.

CornerStore will have its Detroit red carpet premiere tonight at 7:30pm at the AMC Southfield; it will continue to screen at the AMC Southfield, 25333 W. 12 Mile Rd, Southfield Mi for a limited engagement from August 12-18th.

Good luck to Joe to everyone else involved.
