Scripted 'Hidden Figures' Series In The Works At Nat Geo From Executive Producers Of The Film

Hidden Figures will have a new life!

After getting the big screen treatment, a scripted television series based on Margot Shetterly's book of the same name on the black woman mathematicians who were influential in the early days of NASA.

The 2016 film was nominated for three Academy Awards and starred Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monae, Kirstin Dunst, Kevin Costner and Jim Parsons.

Chernin Entertainment's Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping who executive produced the film, are in what Variety calls the "early stages of development" for a scripted series at National Geographic.

Nat Geo has recently made a push into scripted territory as of recent, including Genius, which was nominated for 10 Emmys.

The network has not responded to any industry publications for comment.
