The general conscious

among both reviewers and viewers seems to be that Aaron McGruder’s absence from Season Four of The

Boondocks was very obviously noticeable in

the premiere episode Monday night.

However, that didn’t

stop people from watching the show. In fact, Monday’s season premiere garnered the show’s

highest ratings ever, and was the most-watched primetime program on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim in five

years.

The first airing

of the episode drew some 1.4 million viewers in the 18-34 demo of adults, and the

show was No. 1 on all of broadcast and cable programs in that same

demo, “up 50% from viewers in the key demos.

The episode

even beat out NBC’s The Voice and

the NBA playoffs on TNT.

However, whether

the ratings will continue on this level after

the general disappointment of the opening episode will be seen in future episodes.
