The LA Film Festival event will take place on June 19 at 7:30 pm at LACMA.

The 16-episode second season of the acclaimed drama series will premiere on the OWN network in a similar fashion as it did last season, with a two-night event, launching on June 20 and June 21, at 10 p.m.

The series, created by Ava DuVernay who also executive produces with Oprah Winfrey, chronicles the lives and loves of the estranged Bordelon siblings in Saint Josephine, Louisiana. Based on the book by Natalie Baszile, Rutina Wesley, Dawn-Lyen Gardner and Kofi Siriboe star as the siblings.

Joining the cast for season 2 in recurring roles are Sharon Lawrence, Alimi Ballard and Margot Bingham, playing Lorna, the mother of Charley Bordelon, Dr. Robert Dubois, an epidemiologist who works at The Center for American Progress, and Tamar Judith, a pop singer who crosses paths with Davis (Timon Kyle Durrett).

Produced by Warner Horizon, “Queen Sugar” is inspired by the book of the same title by Natalie Baszile.
