Second Season Premiere of 'Iyanla:Fix My Life' Hits Rating High

nullI’m willing to bet that Oprah and Iyanla Vanzant are both really happy when Iyanla came back on Oprah’s old talk show to basically apologize and beg for forgiveness.

It was then that it was pretty obvious to everyone that Iyanla had in her mind a plan for her to get own show on OWN. And she did. And it’s a smash hit.

Last Saturday’s second season premiere with rapper DMX and his son pulled in 1.4 million viewers, which is an increase of 22% from last season’s premiere episode with Basketball Wives reailty star Evelyn Lozada

And the late night repeast of the DMX show pulled in another 420, 000 viewers.

As for the reason for the show’s success, Iyanla said that “There’s

a lot of reality TV. People watch, walking away feeling excited, angry or

disgusted. We try to give people lessons they can use in their lives. We take

reality to another level. Not just the dysfunction but we serve these people,

not just provide entertainment.”

“We

are trying to restore people. Restore their hearts and minds and trying to give

them a sense of renewal. My goal is to realize their vision, clearing out

whatever is in the way of manifesting their vision.

To add to the success of OWN on Saturday night, the premiere of Life with LaToya with LaToya Jackson, which followed Fix My Life, drew another 1.5 million viewers.

And this Saturday night will see another new reality celebrity show on OWN, Raising Whitley with comedian Kim Whitley, which will make its premiere between Iyanla’s and LaToya’s shows.
