"Set It Off" Coming To Blu-Ray DVD on Aug. 30

It took a while but finally F. Gary Gray’s 1996 action heist thriller Set It Off is finally coming out on blu-ray DVD on Aug. 30, from New Line/Warners Home Video.

Starring Kimberly Elise, Queen Latifah (In what for my money is still far and away the best performance she’s ever given in a film…O.K. you all know I’m really attempted to say something but I”ll behave this time), Vivica A. Fox (back when it looked like she going to have a real career), and Jada Pinkett (before she married extremely well), who can deny that it’s a solid, well put together, very entertaining film which sadly did not set off (HA HA get it) other similar films.

It was announced as well that the new blu-ray is the “director’s cut” of the film. But since the original running time for the film was 123 minutes, as it is on the DVD, it’s unclear what they mean by this DVD being a “director’s cut” of the film, implying that it’s a longer version than what was released theatrically.

No further details yet about extras, though one would assume that it will include commentaries by Gray and all the actresses involved, and some “making of” behind-the-scenes stuff.
