And just like that, Nicole Ari Parker became part of the core four of Sex and the City!

Sarah Jessica Parker posted new images from the set of And Just Like That…, the sequel series for Sex and the City. Nicole Ari Parker was featured hugging the returning stars, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.

While we knew Parker was one of the show’s new stars, it looks like her role may be the equivalent to Samantha (Kim Catrall) in the original series. Catrall declined to return for this series.

“I’d sing along to 70’s love songs with this trio deep into any night,” Sarah Jessica Parker wrote in one of the captions.

Sarah Jessica Parker also posted pictures with Christopher Jackson, Niall Cunningham, and returning Sex and the City stars Mario Cantone and David Eigenberg.

In July, Shadow And Act reported that Nicole Ari Parker, Karen Pittman and Sarita Choudhury were added to the cast. Parker will play Park Avenue mom and documentarian Lisa Todd Wexley. Pittman will play Dr. Nya Wallace, a Columbia Law professor. Choudhury will play Manhattan real estate broker Seema Patel. The three actresses were announced as part of the cast following a statement from HBO head Casey Bloys confirming that three women of color would join the cast in an effort to show a more realistic, diverse New York City.

“[Sarah Jessica Parker and creator Michael Patrick King] didn’t want to tell a story with all-white writers or an all-white cast because it’s not reflective of New York,” Bloys said in May. “So they are being very, very conscious about understanding that New York has to reflect the way New York looks today.”

And Just Like That promises fans more friendship between the three returning Sex and the City characters Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis). According to the series’ official description, the series will follow the three friends “as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.”

Other actors coming to the series include returning stars and actors new to the Sex and the City universe. Viewers can expect to see Chris Noth, Sara Ramírez, Willie Garson and Evan Handler among the aforementioned cast members.
