FBE brought Shaggy in to react to some of the most questionable Jamaican accents in modern American film and TV, and the results are, as you would expect, hilarious.

While promoting his new album, Wah Gwaan?!, Shaggy watches clips from Futurama, Meet Joe Black, Luke Cage, The Office, Cool Runnings and the creme de la creme of awful Jamaican accents, The Little Mermaid. Most of the accents are cringeworthy, making Shaggy’s laughter at some of the clips even funnier. But on the real, his insight into what makes an accurate Jamaican accent is enlightening and proves a larger point about how stereotypical American pop culture can be when attempting to replicate accents.

However, Shaggy said that overall, he’s happy that Hollywood has portrayed Jamaican characters in a positive light. “There’s one thing with Jamaicans, that you really must all admit, that there is a cool factor that goes with it. A lot of people want to be Jamaican.”
