She's Back! Cicely Tyson To Reprise Her Emmy-Nominated Role For 'How To Get Away With Murder' Season 5

Ophelia Harkness is back. Legendary actress Cicely Tyson, who has been nominated three times for the role on How to Get Away with Murder, will return to the show for the second half of Season 5.

She will step back into the role of Annalise Keating (Viola Davis)’s doting mother who is suffering from dementia.

According to People, “As the tension and investigation into Miller’s murder starts to widen in the upcoming episode, the mother and daughter will reunite. Annalise gathers everyone together for the holidays while she wrestles over a difficult decision about her future.”

“Our season never feels complete until we have Ophelia make an appearance,” said show creator Pete Nowalk.

“Ms. Tyson was transcendent! She elevates every scene, every word with an artistry that cannot be explained or taught,” Davis said.

“The air changes every time she walks onto stage. I am constantly in awe of her soul and grace,” Liza Weil, who plays Bonnie, says of the legendary actress returning to the show for a guest appearance.

How to Get Away with Murder airs Thursdays on ABC.
