Shonda Rhimes Eyeing a Return to Her Feature Film Beginnings with Dare Divas Movie

The Shonda Rhimes train keeps on powering ahead, so you can either get out of the way (assuming you’re in front of it), jump on-board for the ride; or just watch from the platform as it speeds on by.

Rhimes might be returning to her feature film *roots* (her breakthrough gig, we could say, was co-penning the script for the 1999 telepic “Introducing Dorothy Dandridge;” other early scripting credits include “Crossroads” and “The Princess Diaries 2: The Royal Engagement”).

She’s now reportedly eyeing what will be a feature-length film, set up at Fox 2000, about the so-called Dare Divas – a group of Detroit women, led by Sheri Hunter (who lost her husband), who have dedicated their lives to travel and living their lives like there’s no tomorrow, devoting themselves to pursuing adventure and encouraging other women to also take risks in life.

Should ongoing negotiations reach a deal, Rhimes would produce the film alongside Shondaland’s Betsy Beers.

This won’t be the first time in recent years that Rhimes has considered stepping back into feature filmmaking (even if for a film or three, while still running Thursday nights at ABC); in 2013, she was attached to write the screenplay for a drama titled “War Correspondents,” which was to center on women war correspondents, for Sony’s Columbia Pictures. The project isn’t listed on her IMDB page any longer, so it might be safe to assume that she’s no longer involved.
