This is installment #19 of Shadow And Act’s #ShortFilmShoutout series.

Writer-director Joseph Lee Anderson tackles police brutality in his short film, The Job. Anderson, who also stars in the film, shows audiences a quick glimpse into the life of a young Black man who is making a positive difference in his life and the lives of others. Having received the great news that a dream of his has been realized, and he will now be able to provide the life he desires for those he loves, he prepares to go for a run. However, while out for his routine morning jog, he performs a good deed that makes his life turn for the worst. Ashley Kennedy, Vilma de Leon, Stephen Matlock, Jason Miller and Jeffrey Staab also star.

The film was a world premiere at two film festivals this year, SXSW and the Nashville Film Festival. As you watch the film, it becomes apparent why it has been so warmly welcomed into the indie festival circuit.
