Showtime is getting into the New Money businesses.

The premium cabler is in development on New Money, a series that is based on an original idea by Jemele Hill and The Undefeated‘s Kelley Carter. It is executive produced by Gabrielle Union, via her I’ll Have Another Productions. Sony Pictures TV is the studio, as I’ll Have Another is based out of there. The project is under Hill and Carter’s Lodge Freeway Media.

Patrik-Ian Polk is attached to write the half-hour comedy. The show centers around Black women who have solidified their careers, achieved financial independence and moved past the awkwardness and money struggles of their 20s. Now in their 30s, the ladies must deal with the repercussions their new money’ brings — including hangers-on, false friends, unwanted media attention and greedy relatives — while also navigating the treacherous world of dating.”

Hill, Carter and Polk also executive produce. Holly Shakoor Fleischer will co-exec produce. This is the latest of many projects that Union’s I’ll Have Another has in development, including Afro.Punks at HBO Max and Tips at Spectrum Originals.
