Sinbad is returning to TV!

The comedian has been tapped to star in Jerrod Carmichael’s Fox comedy pilot, Rel, which stars Lil Rel Howery.

Jordan R. Jones and Jessica “Jess Hilarous” Moore are also series regulars. This would be Sinbad’s first series regular role on TV in over 20 years. His last regular TV role was on The Sinbad Show from 1993-1994, which coincidentally, aired on Fox.

The series revolves around a “prideful, self-made success who lives by the code to ‘always believe in yourself and great things will come,’ who finds that attitude put to the test when he learns his wife is having an affair with his own barber. He tries to rebuild his life post-divorce as a long-distance single father on the South Side of Chicago who is on a quest for love, respect and a new barber.” Howery is writing the script and Carmichael is an EP. Mike Scully is the would-be showrunner.

Sinbad will play Rel and Nat (Jones)’s father who “seems to care more about his reputation in the community than he does about the happiness of his sons.”
