Sister Act 3 is picking up steam. Regina Hicks, the co-executive producer of HBO’s Insecure, and Karin Gist, the showrunner of FOX’s Star, are writing the script for the film.

The film, which will premiere on Disney’s streaming service Disney+, is still a project under wraps. Even though Whoopi Goldberg is expected to make an appearance in the film as Deloris/Sister Mary Clarence, no one knows exactly how she’ll return or what kind of adventures will bring the audience back into the world of musical nuns.

Back in September, Goldberg herself sounded off on the possibility of her character returning, giving us the most information we know about the film so far.

“We’ve been all over Disney begging,” she said to Good Morning Britain regarding her efforts to spearhead a Sister Act sequel starring her. “They’ve decided that they’re going to go in a different direction with Sister Act. It won’t be Sister Act 3. It will be a brand-new rendition of Sister Act, and I guess I’ll walk through a scene, and that’s how they’ll say I was a part of it.”
