Snoop Dogg is joining the game show host circuit that’s seemingly dominated by black men currently: Jamie Foxx hosts “Beat Shazam”; Michael Strahan, “The $100,000 Pyramid”; Cedric the Entertainer and Terry Crews both did host “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”; Wayne Brady, “Let’s Make a Deal”; Steve Harvey, “Family Feud” and more; Alfonso Ribeiro, “Catch 21,” “Spell-Mageddon”; Anthony Anderson, “To Tell the Truth”; Common, “Framework”; Donald Faison, “WINSANITY”; Taye Diggs, “You’re Back in the Room”; and others I can’t think of at the moment.
Dogg has signed up to host TBS’ reboot of the casino-themed 1970s game show “The Joker’s Wild,” which was originally hosted by Jack Barry.
The original “Joker’s Wild” aired at different times during the 1970s through the 1990s. Contestants answered questions based on categories that were determined randomly by a mechanism resembling a giant slot machine which TBS says will remain part of the show, adding “giant dice, playing cards, streetwise questions, and problem-solving.”
“I’m a huge fan of game shows and ‘The Joker’s Wild’ was my favorite show growing up,” said Snoop Dogg in a statement. “It always matched the flavor and personality of Snoop Dogg! Me and the Snoopadelic team are excited to bring back the show and put my own personal touch on it. Get ready ya’ll, it’s gonna be a wild ride!”
Dogg most currently appears in VH1’s “Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party.”
