I’m actually surprised by this news, but happy for its star – Halle Berry!
CBS has announced that the network has renewed its summer sci-fi series "Extant," which ended its first season with a final episode that drew 5.4 million viewers, which was significantly lower than the 9.58 million it attracted for its series premiere – suggesting that, as the season progressed, it lost viewers (over 40% of them by the final episode), which is why I said I’m surprised that CBS has renewed it for another season.
CBS also announced that it has renewed "Under the Dome," but canceled "Reckless."
“We’re committed to delivering our viewers and advertisers year-round programming with a wide variety of storytelling,” CBS Entertainment Chairman Nina Tassler said in a statement. “We continue to see summer as a great place for unique concepts, innovative business models, and passionate television audiences.”
"Extant" and "Under the Dome" will return next summer.
