Sonya Eddy, Longtime 'General Hospital' Actress, Dies At 55

General Hospital actress Sonya Eddy has died at the age of 55. TMZ reports that actress and friend of Eddy’s, Octavia Spencer, broke the news on social media Tuesday.

“My friend @sonyaeddy passed away last night,” she wrote on Instagram. “The world lost another creative angel. Her legions of @generalhospitalabc fans will miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones, friends, and fans!”

The cause of Eddy’s death hasn’t been released as of yet.

Eddy has been a cast member of the popular soap opera since 2006 playing head nurse Epiphany Johnson. According to TMZ, her storylines have included her character bereaving a son who became a part of the mob. Other recent credits include roles on The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, Pen15, V/H/S/99, A Black Lady Sketch Show, Black Jesus, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Fresh off the Boat, among others.
