South African actress and model Pearl Thusi, has landed her first Stateside job, booking a series regular role in ABC’s “Quantico” for the upcoming second season, which is set to premiere in September.

Thusi has signed up to play a character named Dayana Mampasi, who is described as a driven, disciplined, type-A lawyer, who graduated at the top of her class at Harvard, and worked at an NGO for two years before joining her parents’ Boston firm, as she struggles to fit into her new surroundings.

Thusi joins series stars Priyanka Chopra, Jake McLaughlin, Aunjanue Ellis, Yasmine Al Massri, Johanna Braddy, Blair Underwood, and Russell Tovey.

The South African actress currently hosts “Lip Sync Battle Africa” which is broadcast on MTV Africa and E.tv (for the South African audience). She also starred on South African network SABC 3’s popular soap opera, “Isidingo,” and co-hosted the celebrity gossip magazine show, “The Real Goboza.”

Her casting in “Quantico” could certainly lead to more work on this side of the Atlantic.

Thusi is repped by Generate and Capacity Relations in South Africa.
