In case you missed its PBS run back in February, Sam Pollard's historical documentary Slavery By Another Name will screen tonight at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism (CJS) in New York.
We've shared quite a bit on this site about the film, which challenges the idea that slavery ended with the Emancipation Proclamation by examining America's corrupt legal system during the years after the Civil War.
Following the screening, award-winning filmmaker Pollard will appear on a panel alongside Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Douglas Blackmon, author of the book Slavery By Another Name, and Sheila Curran Bernard, writer of the documentary.
The event is hosted by professors June Cross and Bill Grueskin and is sponsored by the Sevellon Brown fund at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
