UPDATE (5/11/2019): The musical drama is reportedly being shopped to other outlets, meaning the series has a slight chance of living on. There is no word on which talks are ongoing, but it is worth noting that 20th Century Fox’s (the show’s producer) new home, Disney, owns a majority stake in Hulu.

Fans of the show have been outspoken about the cancellation and petitions have been started. Several stars have posted heartfelt messages on social media.

And to you I present our: Blooper Reel of Season 2&3. I couldn’t even fit it all in here but this is enough for a farewell. This experience has completely changed my life in so many ways. Previously reported: After three seasons, Fox’s musical drama, Star, has been canceled. From Lee Daniels, it was considered to be a spinoff/companion series to his other Fox show, Empire, which has been renewed.

While a Star cancellation wasn’t necessarily something that was expected (as the show’s ratings weren’t that bad), once Fox ordered six new series Thursday, that was a warning sign that the series could be in trouble. But why was it in trouble? After the Disney-Fox deal was finalized, this meant that Star‘s studio, 20th Century Fox TV would now be under Disney, and no longer at Fox. So this new ownership likely had a lot to do with this decision. Also, it helps that all of the Fox co-owns all of the new projects it ordered to series. Plus, the show is said to be costly to produce in general. But, alas, as popular as Empire was a few years back when it was shattering TV records week after week, it is wild to think that any spinoff of the show (or the show itself) would be in any sort of danger before a fifth or sixth season.

Led by Queen Latifah and featuring a soundtrack of original music and musical performances, Lee Daniels’ drama series Star followed three talented singers (played by Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny and Brittany O’Grady), desperate for a new start and with ambitions of stardom as they navigate the cutthroat music business on their road to success. The show also starred Amiyah Scott, Miss Lawrence, Luke James, Lance Gross, Brandy, Quincy Brown and Evan Ross.

The series finale left major cliffhangers, with the fate of multiple characters hanging in the balance.
