Storm Reid is in major talks to star in James Gunn’s DC Comics film, The Suicide Squad. She joins a cast that includes Margot Robbie, Viola Davis,  Idris Elba and Joel Kinnaman. Gunn is the writer and the director.

The news was first reported by The Wrap on Wednesday before making its rounds through the trades. It is said that she would play the daughter of Idris Elba’s character. Elba was first said to be replacing Will Smith’s character from the first film, Deadshot, but it was later revealed that he would be a new character instead. Given that we don’t know who Elba’s character is, we have no inkling of who Reid would be playing in the film.

Plot details of the film are still scarce as well.

Reid blasted on the scene as the lead character in Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time. DuVernay also cast her in a supporting role on her acclaimed Netflix limited series, When They See Us. Currently, Reid stars in Euphoria on HBO with Zendaya.

The first film Suicide Squad, had a good box office run but received negative reviews from critics. Robbie, Davis, Smith, Cara Delevingne, Jared Leto and Ezra Miller were among its stars.
