Trayvon Martin's Mother Sybrina Fulton Isn't Pleased With BET For Unexpectedly Not Airing Latest Episode Of 'Rest In Power'

Sybrina Fulton, the mother of slain teen Trayvon Martin, is letting BET know she’s upset with the network after it didn’t air the fifth installment of the Jay-Z produced documentary Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story.

According to The Grio, BET neglected to air the next part of the documentary, which has been airing each Monday night on both BET and the Paramount Network since July 30. Instead, the network re-aired The New Edition Story as a lead-in to the premiere of The Bobby Brown Story. Beforehand, BET made the mistake of releasing an ad stating that the fifth part would be aired on both networks. Even though it didn’t air on BET, it, however, broadcast on the Paramount Network, as expected.

Fulton uploaded the ad to Instagram with the caption, “Just found out that #BET has made a programming decision not to air Rest In Power tonight as scheduled,” wrote Fulton, using an angry emoji to voice her displeasure.

In any other case, it makes sense for BET to re-air The New Edition Story as its lead into the next chapter of the New Edition/Bobby Brown saga. But BET also could have reissue ads that gave viewers, especially Fulton and Martin’s family, a heads-up, complete with a new airing date. BET could make things a little better by showing the unaired portion of the documentary because not everyone has the Paramount Network.
