– First, Marsha Stephanie Blake (who’s appeared in TV series like "Girls," "Elementary," and "Law & Order") has joined the cast of Netflix’s hit drama series "Orange Is the New Black," in a recurring role as a new corrections officer. She will make her debut on the series during its third season.

– Arjay Smith has joined the cast of FX’s "Sons Of Anarchy" for the seventh and final season. He’s signed up to play a Grant McQueen, who’s described as "a good, street smart kid who is trying to protect his mother."

– Shonda Rhimes’ has sold a new drama to ABC via her Shondaland production company (along with partner Betsy Beers). Titled "Protect & Survive," what is being called an ensemble drama, will follow the very last LAPD precinct, fighting to survive in a Los Angeles recovering from a major disaster. No other details are available, but I can’t help but wonder if there will be some sci-fi elements to this one, especially with "Person of Interest’s" David Slack being hired to pen the script.

– And finally, "Saturday Night Live’s" has put a black man in the anchor seat for its "Weekend Update" segment. Michael Che will replace the exiting Cecily Strong, who, after a season of supporting Seth Meyers, requested to be relieved of the segment, so that she can appear in more sketches. Che will host the "Weekend Update" segment on SNL with Colin Jost, as the pair becomes the show’s first-ever 2-man "Weekend Update" anchor team. Michael Che is a stand-up comedian. He is currently a writer for "Saturday Night Live," as well as a correspondent for "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart."
