The red-band trailer for the digital-age crime drama Assassination Nation is out, and if its content is anything to go by, the film is ready to take a bite out of everything comprising today’s culture, both on and offline, including transphobia, racism, sexism, toxic masculinity, homophobia and more.

Assassination Nation is written and directed by Sam Levinson and stars Atlanta R&B singer Arba as well as Anika Noni Rose, Colman Domingo, Kelvin Harrison, Jr, Odessa Young, Suki Waterhouse, Hari Nef and Maude Apatow, with Bill Skarsgård, Joel McHale and Bella Thorne. The film focuses on a high school girl whose digital and physical life is put in jeopardy by a hacker.

“High school senior Lily and her group of friends live in a haze of texts, posts, selfies and chats just like the rest of the world. So, when an anonymous hacker starts posting details from the private lives of everyone in their small town, the result is absolute madness leaving Lily and her friends questioning whether they’ll live through the night.”

Neon, partnered with AGBO, acquired the rights to Assassination Nation in January during Sundance for $10 million, and it’s easy to see why the company would be interested in a film like this. Their slate of films all veers toward an edgy, in-your-face type of sensibility, such as I, Tonya, which went on to become an awards season darling.

Assassination Nation comes to theaters September 21.
