In the onslaught of broadcast network television series cancellations, even daytime talk shows are not out of the realm of possibility.

Steve Harvey’s eponymous daytime talk show, Steve, has been canceled. This isn’t surprising news, considering it was announced last year that Kelly Clarkson’s forthcoming talk show would take over his slot at NBC-owned affiliates. The final episode of the show was taped on Thursday. Per Variety, new episodes will air through June and it will remain on the air via reruns through September.

It is unknown the reason for the show’s cancellation, but it could be due to a dispute between NBCUniversal and IMG, as the latter owns the show now.

Harvey first started with The Steve Harvey Show in 2012, which was more Dr. Phil/Oprah (self-help) style. With a new format and retitling, Steve, came with the new IMG deal and put a new focus on fun segments and celebrity appearances. NBCUniversal was reportedly upset that IMG now owned the show in its entirety, although they still distributed it. IMG looked to shop the show elsewhere, but nothing has come of it yet.

It was also announced that Harvey has been replaced with Melissa McCarthy as the host of Little Big Shots. Reasons for the split are not known entirely, but the spat between Harvey and NBC with the talk show may have factored into the decision, as well as a purported pay increase for Harvey.
