Romeo Miller has come a long way since debuting as a rapper at 10-years-old. The son of rapper and mogul Percy Miller, aka Master P, has inherited his dad’s business savvy.

Before transitioning into acting and entrepreneurship, Romeo made history as a child star, even breaking records set by Michael Jackson. At age 11, he dethroned Jackson as the youngest solo artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart with his first hit, ”My Baby,” staying at the No. 1 spot for 10 weeks.

His success didn’t stop there. A Nickelodeon sitcom followed, along clothing lines and more albums. Not wanting to be just another child star with no formal education, Miller began promoting the value of education by partnering with ICDC College. He put his money where his mouth is by taking a step back from the business and enrolling into USC on a basketball scholarship. While there, he studied filmmaking, with the goal of creating documentaries.

Now, Miller has transitioned into a whole new arena as a co-host on the FOX Soul talk show, The Mix. The show dabbles into hot topics in entertainment, politics, relationships, and social issues with a focus on the Black Gen-Z and millennial men and women. Miller’s co-hosts are Zonnique Pullins, Anton Peeples, Jamie DuBose and Jazz Anderson.

While this area of entertainment is new to Miller, he says it’s his destiny.

“I’ve learned that I may have this vision of what I want or what I may see myself as and I think God has a very funny sense of humor,” he says. “We always want something and it may not be what we need. That’s kind of what this talk show became for me because I never wanted to be a talk show host. If you know me personally, I am very introverted. I love my alone time, I love just being able to chill, and being a talk show host is an everyday thing. This is like going back to school. You have to do your research. You’re doing something every day to be prepared and that was frightening for me in the beginning.”

Miller says his entire career is shaped by his faith in God and understanding that his purpose is greater than himself. This is why making the decision to leave a popular reality series that he felt did not align with his brand and mission was a no brainer.

“I feel every experience in life is meant to teach us something. It’s just like a relationship. Every relationship I’ve been in, I’ve learned from. I’m not mad at the ex, I want the best for them I want them to grow,” he says. “And I think that’s the mature thing to do is understand that maybe that wasn’t your person for forever but that was your person to learn a lesson to prepare you for your real blessing and that’s how I see this show.”

As for what Miller brings to The Mix, he says it’s simple: experience. He’s only 31 but has amassed much in his short life thus far. His business acumen is impressive, expanding upon the empire his father set with music, film, real estate, and businesses within the food and beverage industry. He jokingly refers to himself as the “grandpa” of the show, with even his family implementing the nickname.

Miller wants viewers, particularly young Black viewers, to know their worth and reach for the stars.

“I want people to know that you truly have to have an anchor if you truly want to reach your full potential. Happiness is a journey and if you want to be happy, it’s going to come with obstacles, there are going to be storms and you have to have the right mindset. I just want to tell people you have to find that anchor and my anchor has been God. That’s the one thing that I know that no matter what is going on in the world, I know God’s got me. Most importantly, my motto is: If they can do it, we can do it too.”
