Actress Octavia Spencer will host the March 4 episode (that’s this Saturday) of “Saturday Night Live” – her very first time hosting the long-running variety program! And a good time to host the series because it’s enjoying as good a stretch as we’ve seen in recent years in terms of ratings, thanks in large part to our current federal administration led by one Mr. Donald Trump who’s provided the show’s staff with much material.

Her March 4th hosting date comes roughly a week after the 89th Academy Awards ceremony for which Octavia Spencer was a nomineed Best Supporting Actress, and the film she stars in, “Hidden Figures,” was a Best Picture nominee.

Neither won, but she’ll still be hosting SNL this weekend, kicking off the month of March for the late-night sketch comedy and variety show.
