Teaser-Trailer Premiere: 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' (John Boyega and Lupita Nyong'o Return)


“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” (also known as “Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi”) is the next epic space opera in the franchise, although it’s the second film in the “Star Wars” sequel trilogy following “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (2015).

Written and directed by Rian Johnson, the film is produced by Lucasfilm and will be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

Of note with respect to this blog’s interests, John Boyega and Lupita Nyong’o are returning in their respective roles as s Finn, a former stormtrooper of the First Order who defected to the Resistance, and the computer generated Maz Kanata, a pirate and longtime friend of Han Solo and Chewbacca.

They are members of a cast that includes Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher (who died in December 2016, making this one of her final performances), Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis in returning roles.

New cast members include Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern, and Kelly Marie Tran in unconfirmed roles.

The film is produced by Ram Bergman and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. John Williams, composer for the previous seven films, returns to compose the score.

“The Last Jedi” is scheduled for release on December 15, 2017.
