The world fell in love with the Teen Mom franchise in 2009 and since then, they’ve opened their households to the young women navigating the tolls of motherhood during their teen years. Now, Paramount Media Networks and MTV Entertainment Studios are bridging the gap between the OG Teen Moms who built the show from the ground up and the women from Teen Mom 2 in a new series, Teen Mom: The Next Chapter. Shadow and Act Unscripted recently spoke to several of the ladies.

“This next chapter is full of so many life-changing, life-altering moments between moving, getting married, and going through legal things,” explained Cheyenne Floyd, one of the original Teen Mom cast members. “This next chapter is huge. It’s one that I wasn’t prepared for honestly. I’m going through it right now, so I’m like, ‘Let’s get to the next.'”

'Teen Mom 2' star Briana DeJesus says the next chapter is filled with "a lot of self-growth."

The ladies also open up about the lessons they’ve learned from being a part of a franchise from such an early age.

“I’ve definitely learned that we’re all imperfect,” said another Teen Mom 2 star Leah Messer. “We’re all learning together and I think that’s a part of motherhood. “I get to give myself a little bit of grace and be patient with myself and take my time knowing that I’m going to make mistakes. I’m not going to be the perfect mom, I’m going to be the example that my daughters can look up to.”

"[I'm] focusing on me being a little bit more selfish and just trying to live life," Briana told us.

“There’s a little bit of emotional stuff going on with, me and my father in the past, and new relationships and co-parenting, and there’s just so much going on,” she continued. “But I think it’s been really great. It’s been really great to see that I’m not the same Bri as I was a few months ago.”

"We're all learning together and I think that's a part of motherhood," said Leah.

“I get to give myself a little bit of grace and be patient with myself and take my time knowing that I’m going to make mistakes,” she expressed. “I’m not going to be the perfect mom, I’m going to be the example that my daughters can look up to.”

Briana also added how much she has learned from her children over the years.

“My kids teach me a lot,” she added. “They have taught me that there’s just one life to live, and it’s gonna be hard, but everything is gonna be okay. Like when I see my kids and my whole world could be shattering, it’s like I realize that everything is gonna be okay. Breath, just breath. My kids teach me something new every single day, but I will take that over anything for sure.”
