Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment has paired up Jaden Smith with Cara Delevingne in a romantic drama titled “Life in a Year,” which will be directed by Mitja Okorn, from a script penned by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews.

Scheduled to begin production in the spring, the project’s story follows a 17-year-old boy and his girlfriend who set out to make the most of their final year together, when they learn that she’s dying, and has only a year left to live.

Announced today, joining Smith and Delevingne is Terrence Howard, who has signed up to play the “proud, no-nonsense” father of Jaden’s character, named Daryn.

Overbrook Entertainment is producing along with Marc Bienstock.

The last time we saw Jaden Smith on the big screen was the 2013 disaster that was “After Earth,” in which he co-starred with his father Will Smith. Currently, you can catch him in Netflix’s musical drama series “The Get Down” which returns for the second half of its season this Friday, April 7.

Meanwhile, Howard can currently be seen as ruthless patriarch Lucious Lyon on Fox’s hit musical drama series “Empire.”

Overbrook Entertainment was started by partners Will Smith and James Lassiter in the late 1990s. The company produces music, films, and television shows. Some of its production credits include “Wild Wild West,” “Love & Basketball,” “Ali,” “ATL,” “The Human Contract,” “Lakeview Terrace,” “The Secret Life of Bees,” “Annie,” “Collateral Beauty.”

Deadline was first to report the casting of Howard today.
