Tessa Thompson is set to work with Nia DaCosta in the upcoming film Hedda.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Thompson will play Hedda Gabler in a reimagination of Henrik Ibsen’s 1891 play. The film will be directed by DaCosta and will be produced via Orion Pictures (part of MGM) and Plan B.

As Shadow and Act reported last July, DaCosta will also write the adaptation, which follows Hedda as she “navigates a house she does not want, a marriage she feels trapped in and an ex-lover who has reappeared in her life,” according to Variety at the time.

Along with Plan B, Thompson, DaCosta and Little Woods producer Gabrielle Nadig will produce. Thompson will produce through her production company Viva Maude, with Viva Maude’s Kishori Rajan serving as an executive producer. Michael Constable will also executive produce.

This marks the second project the two have worked on together since Thompson‘s role in Little Woods, DaCosta’s debut film in 2018.
