During Monday night’s The Bachelor: After the Final Rose, in a first-of-its-kind moment, The Bachelor‘s Michelle Young and Katie Thurston were named the upcoming stars of  The Bachelorette.

Young,  a 27-year-old Minnesota native, will see her season will premiere later this year after fellow Thurston, searches for love in season 17 of The Bachelorette.

Young, a teacher on the quest for love, stated, “I was a little nervous, but once I found out that it was two different seasons, I was here for it. I’m excited that I get to have somebody to bond over with this and share notes as we go. “I really do think that this process works. When you can set down all these outside distractions and really dive in, I think you can learn a lot about somebody. I’m just excited. I’m ready to get started.”

Arriving late to the season of  The Bachelor, Young advanced to the final two. However, Rachel Kirkconnell went on to ultimately win over Matt James’s heart, though they have split due to the season’s infamous racism controversy.

It is unknown if Chris Harrison will host Young’s season of The Bachelorette. Harrison stepped away from the franchise due to his own controversy following the news that surfaced about Kirkconnell.

Season 17 of The Bachelorette will be hosted by former The Bachelorette stars Kaitlyn Bristowe and Tayshia Adams.
