Pitch and When They See Us star Kylie Bunbury has been tapped for the lead role in the upcoming ABC series, The Big Sky.

The project, from Boston Legal and Big Little Lies creator David E. Kelley, is bypassing the pilot stage and has a straight-to-series order at the network. Ryan Phillippe, Katheryn Winnick, John Carroll Lynch, and Dedee Pfeiffer will also star in the drama.

Per the series’ official description it will center on “Detective Cassie Dewell (Bunbury) and former cop Jenny Hoyt (Winnick) who team up on a search for two sisters who have been kidnapped by a truck driver on a remote highway in Montana. They discover the two girls aren’t the only ones to go missing from the area and start a race against time to stop the perpetrator before another woman is taken.” Bunbury’s Cassie is a junior detective partnered with Cody Hoyt (Phillipe), the ex of Jenny.

The series puts Bunbury back at ABC after leading the Get Christie Love reboot pilot from Power creator Courtney A. Kemp, which didn’t move forward. The actress has also starred in CBS’ Under the Dome and Freeform’s Twisted.

This is the first series order for ABC this television season.
