The 12th edition of the Black Film Maker Festival (bfmiff2015) – the longest running black independent film festival in the UK – has announced that it’s set to return to London after an absence

of 4 years. The festival dates will be July 2 to July 5, at the Bernie Grant Arts

Centre (BGAC).

The festival has revealed its opening night film will be the documentary, “Looking for Love,” by Menelik Shabazz – black British film pioneer, veteran director/producer and the festival founder. 

“I am proud to present the 12th Edition of the bfm International Film Festival this year. We continue to give audiences the best in black world cinema as well as being a platform for film & TV industry seminars and workshops. The black independent sector has long been starved of opportunities to engage with industry as well as to present their work. The festival will/has become the gateway for such engagement,” Menelik said in the press statement. 

On May 23rd, 2015 the British Film Institute (BFI) will also host a screening of “Looking for Love.”

Launched in 1998, the Black Film Maker Festival has been instrumental in establishing a platform for UK black filmmakers to

present their work, and for audiences to engage with this work, alongside international films from the USA, the rest of Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, and South America.

The upcoming 12th edition, bfmiff2015, will continue with this mission, promising a strong line-up of films of all lengths (fiction, non-fiction and animation), alongside industry-led workshops and seminars.
