'The Blackening' Gets Juneteenth Weekend Theatrical Release From Lionsgate

The Blackening, which originally premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in October, will hit theaters on June 16 from Lionsgate.

The film stars Antoinette Robertson, Dewayne Perkins, Sinqua Walls, Grace Byers, X Mayo, Melvin Gregg, Jermaine Fowler, Yvonne Orji, and Jay Pharoah.

Directed by Tim Story, the film was co-written by Tracy Oliver and Perkins.

Here's the official synopsis of 'The Blackening':

The Blackening centers around a group of Black friends who reunite for a Juneteenth weekend getaway only to find themselves trapped in a remote cabin with a twisted killer. Forced to play by his rules, the friends soon realize this ain’t no motherf****** game.

Marcei A. Brown, Jason Clark, E. Brian Dobbins, Tracy Oliver, Tim Story, and Sharla Sumpter Bridgett are the producers of the film. Vicky Story is an associate producer and Perkins is a co-producer.
