With the recent news of the same-sex wedding surrounding beloved Arthur character, Mr. Ratburn and his husband, Patrick, another piece of groundbreaking LGBTQ news in the realm of animation has hit our corner.

Hulu has set the voice cast for its upcoming animated series The Bravest Knight. Among the cast members are comedian Wanda Sykes and Emmy winning entertainer RuPaul.

Based on Daniel Errico’s popular children’s book, The Bravest Knight Who Ever Lived, the series will follow Nia (Storm Reid), a 10-year-old girl who lives with her two parents, Sir Cedric and Prince Andrew. As evident by its title, The Bravest Knight will follow Nia as she embarks on her own journey to becoming a knight as well.

The series is notable in that it will be one of the first children’s animated series to feature an openly gay main character.

T.R. Knight, who played the role of Dr. George O’ Malley on Grey’s Anatomy, will voice the character of Sir Cedric. Wilson Cruz will voice the character of Prince Andrew. Other cast members for the show include Steven Weber and AJ McLean.

The Bravest Knight will premiere on Hulu on June 21 with five episodes, with more episodes set to appear on the streaming platform later in the year.
