The Chi seems ready to get back on track after the sexual harassment scandal involving former series star Jason Mitchell.

Deadline has announced that production has started on the third season with a new showrunner and several new actors joining the cast.

Snowfall writer Justin Hillian has been tapped to be the show’s showrunner, replacing Ayanna Floyd Davis. Birgundi Baker has been moved up to a series regular, while series newcomers Lil Rel Howery, Luke James and La La Anthony are going to have recurring roles.

James will play Victor “Trig” Taylor, who is the estranged older brother of Jake (Michael V. Epps). Trig wants to reunite his family, but, as the description states, Trig “takes an unconventional approach.”

Howery will play Zeke Remnick, who owns Sonny’s building and “cares less about the community than the bottom line.”

Anthony will play Dominique “Dom” Morris, who is described as “a savvy businesswoman with dreams of more lucrative opportunities.”

As reported earlier, The Chi incurred a scandal with Mitchell, who was accused of sexually harassing his former The Chi co-star Tiffany Boone. He was also accused of harassing Davis as well. Davis released a statement saying that executive producer and creator Lena Waithe knew about Mitchell’s behavior since the first season.

Waithe later opened up about her response to the initial allegations during an interview with The Breakfast Club. “My biggest regret is I wish I would have not trusted anyone to do my job and just reached out to Tiffany on my own and ask what I can do to fix it,” she said. “I trusted someone else to do my job and the truth is, can’t nobody do my job like me.”
