We probably all knew it was a foregone conclusion, but now it’s official — Jason Mitchell’s character will get killed off of The Chi.

Showtime’s co-president Gary Levine revealed the news Friday during the Television Critics Association summer press tour. “There is a lot of great life in The Chi and there’s also death in The Chi and that’s how we’ll be dealing with it,” he said.

Fans were probably expecting this news after Mitchell was fired for alleged harassment of his co-star Tiffany Boone, who played his girlfriend on the show, and showrunner Ayanna Floyd Davis. Mitchell was also fired from his role in the upcoming Netflix film Desperados.

The allegations also affected creator Lena Waithe, who had to reveal why Mitchell wasn’t let go when the allegations first surfaced during the first season.
