'The Kitchen': Tiffany Haddish-Led Film Adaptation Of DC Comics/Vertigo Mob Drama Gets Release Date Moved Up

The Kitchen, the upcoming comic book film adaptation starring Tiffany Haddish, has been moved up from its September release date.

The film was initially set to debut Sept. 20. But Warner Bros. has fast-tracked the film for August 9. There’s no reason listed as to why Warner Bros. has moved the film up, but one can assume that the studio must think it has a fire film on its hands.

The Kitchen is based on the Vertigo comic series by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle and starring Melissa McCarthy and Elisabeth Moss along with Haddish. Andrea Berloff is directing the film from her script adaptation, and the film marks her directorial debut.

Like the comic book, The Kitchen follows several mob wives who take over the family business after their husbands go to prison. This is Haddish’s second role that seems to expand her acting range; the first was her role in the political comedy The Oath.

James Badge Dale, Jeremy Bobb, Myk Watford, Domhnall Gleeson, Margo Martindale, Bill Camp and Brian d’Arcy Jame also star.
