'The Last Of Us' Creators Say That Part II Of The Game Will Be Covered In More Than One Season

After HBO’s swift renewal for the video game adaptation of The Last Of Us, creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have revealed they are planning more than one season for the game’s sequel The Last Of Us Part II. This means they are planning for at least two seasons that will focus on Part II of the game.

In an interview with GQ following the season 1 finale, both Mazin and Druckmann revealed that given the scope of Part II, one season will not suffice.

“It’s more than one season”, Druckmann said.

Released in 2020 on PlayStation 4, The Last Of Us Part II features more characters, and action set pieces when compared to its predecessor.

The sequel game sees the return of several fan-favorite characters from The Last Of Us, such as Joel, Ellie, Tommy and Maria, as well as the new characters.

Aside from Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsay, Gabriel Luna and Rutina Wesley, HBO’s The Last Of Us season 1 also featured Nico Parker, Anna Torv, Merle Dandridge Nick Offerman, Murray Bartlett, Melanie Lynskey, Lamar Johnson, Keivonn Montreal Woodard, Storm Reid and Scott Shepherd.

In the interview, Druckmann revealed his elation at bringing The Last Of Us Part II to life in future seasons of the show.

“Some of the stuff I’m most excited for [in Part 2] are the changes we’ve discussed and seeing the story come to life again in this other version,” Druckmann said. “And I think it’s exciting because it leans into those feelings you had from the game, really heavily, in a new way.”

The season 1 finale of The Last of Us is now streaming on HBO Max.
