The #LawrenceHive are not just in their feelings, but they are not taking "No" without a fight. Fans of Insecure character Lawrence (Jay Ellis) have decided to take action against Issa Rae and showrunner Prentice Penny's decision not to have Lawrence be a part of the third season of HBO's Insecure.

Rae said at the time of the announcement, "We want to stay as true to life as possible...You never see the exes again. And it's OK! You gotta explore life without Lawrence." This is especially true since the Lawrence and the fictional Issa have reconciled and parted on reasonable terms. But the character's hardcore fans aren't letting that line rest. Instead, some have taken to Facebook to promote a petition demanding that Lawrence be brought back into the Insecure fold.

A website named whereslawrence.com posted a sponsored (i.e. paid) Facebook ad for their Care2 petition, which was screenshot by eagle-eyed social media user @TaisjeC, who comically wrote, "The Lawrence Hive is being extra per usual." If you're paying Facebook to promote your petition about a show, "extra" is definitely the right word to use.

The person who made the petition, who calls themselves "Lawrence Hive," wrote on their website that Rae's decision to keep Lawrence from Season 3 "not cool," adding that "Lawrence is an awesome complex character that we want to see more of."

"Lawrence was something new for TV. He's a strong black man who also isn't afraid to be emotionally vulnerable," they wrote on the petition's Care2 page. "...Over the past two seasons, Jay Ellis has portrayed the conflicted and realistic ways Lawrence has dealt with difficult and rarely explored issues for men such as infidelity, male friendship, depression, and toxic masculinity."

Despite Rae's statement that Lawrence will not be back, the petition has nearly hit its goal of 10,000 signatures. But will HBO and Rae listen? Only time will tell, but something tells me Rae is firm in her decision, especially since it might free up Rae and the writers to send their characters down different, more expansive storylines or try some of the shenanigans Shadow and Act writer Tonja Renée Stidhum theorized in her article about the new directions the Insecure cast could go.

In any event, good luck to the Lawrence Hive. May they learn to cope without their shining star present on screen. The Lawrence-free third season of Insecure airs August 12 on HBO.
