'The Lovebirds' Starring Issa Rae Delayed Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

March 12 2020

The Lovebirds has officially been delayed by Paramount amid concerns about the coronavirus outbreak.

The rom-com starring Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani was initially set to be released on April 3. It was going to have its world premiere this week at the SXSW Film Festival before the fest was canceled. The film does not have a new release date yet.

Michael Showalter, who directed Nanjiani in The Big Sick, is the director. Aaron Abrams and Brendan Gall wrote screenplay.

The official description: A couple (Rae & Nanjiani) experiences a defining moment in their relationship when they are unintentionally embroiled in a murder mystery. As their journey to clear their names takes them from one extreme--and hilarious--circumstance to the next, they must figure out how they, and their relationship, can survive the night.

Additionally, The Quiet Place Part II and the ninth Fast & Furious film, F9, have also been delayed. The former has no new date while the latter has been delayed until next year on April 2, 2021.
