After its theatrical release was postponed by Paramount, The Lovebirds has flown over to Netflix.

The Paramount Pictures rom-com starring Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani was initially set to be released on April 3. The film’s SXSW premiere was axed when the festival was called off and the studio later pulled the whole release from the calendar.

The deal makes sense, given Paramount’s history with Netflix. The studio dropped off Julius Onah’s The Cloverfield Paradoxwhich starred David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Elizabeth Debicki, on the streaming service as a surprise release after the 2018 Super Bowl. The streaming giant also had international rights for several Paramount films, including Annihilation starring Natalie Portman and Tessa Thompson.

Michael Showalter, who directed Nanjiani in The Big Sick, directed The Lovebirds. Aaron Abrams and Brendan Gall wrote the screenplay.

The official description: A couple (Rae & Nanjiani) experiences a defining moment in their relationship when they are unintentionally embroiled in a murder mystery. As their journey to clear their names takes them from one extreme–and hilarious–circumstance to the next, they must figure out how they, and their relationship, can survive the night.

The Netflix premiere date is unknown right now.

Deadline first reported this news.
