The film is an adaptation of the novel by Walter Mosley and will be produced through his Majors’ company, Tall Street Productions. Protagonist Pictures will finance the film. Not only is Majors set to star and executive produce, Nadia Latif will also make her directorial debut.
The film will focus on a man named Charles Blakey, a Black Sag Harbor resident who is, according to the description, “stuck in a rut, out of luck and about to lose his ancestral home.” But a strange white European businessman comes to him. Not only does the businessman offer him his basement as a place Charles can rent to live, but he also offers to pay Charles $50,000. The deal leads Charles through a wild, scary journey with race, history and money at the wheel.
Latif and Mosley adapted the screenplay, with the film preparing to shoot in the fall.
Majors was recently seen in The Harder They Fall and Loki. In the latter project, Majors made his entry into the MCU as a variant of villain Kang the Conqueror, He Who Remains. Majors’ upcoming films include The Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, in which Majors reprises Kang the Conqueror.
