'The Masked Singer': Jenny McCarthy And Nicole Scherzinger Get Backlash After Being Excited For Rudy Giuliani's Unveiling

Jenny McCarthy, Robin Thicke and Nicole Scherzinger are at the receiving end of backlash for The Masked Singer's recent episode while Ken Jeong is being praised.

The April 20 episode of the campy singing competition series unveiled former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani as the show's Jack in the Box.

Though judges Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke, and Jenny McCarthy were pleasantly surprised by this reveal, fellow judge Ken Jeong wasn't too thrilled by the identity of the unmasked celebrity, causing him to leave the stage.

A ton of controversy has surrounded Rudy Giuliani's appearance on 'The Masked Singer'

Back in February, reports surfaced that Giuliani, a now-disgraced perpetrator of the false conspiracy theory that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged,” would appear on the current season of The Masked Singer.

During the April 20 episode, those reports were proven true when Giuliani was revealed as Jack in the Box after singing “Bad To The Bone” by George Thorogood and the Destroyers.

As soon as he was unmasked, host Nick Canon commented, “It surprises us all that you’re here on The Masked Singer.

Judge Robin Thicke added, “This is definitely something I never would have guessed.”

Fellow judge Nicole Scherzinger looked confused and asked Ken Jeong, “Is that Robert Duvall?” “No, that’s not Robert Duvall,” Jeong informed his fellow panelist, as his face fell. A beaming Jenny McCarthy declared she had “no idea!”

As his fellow judges and the audience cheered and clapped Giuliani’s farewell performance, Jeong was noticeably displeased and exited the stage.

Thicke also exited at some point but was reportedly only checking on Jeong.

Twitter was also displeased with Giuliani's appearance on the show.

“Oh, @NicoleScherzy, it’s one thing to be a good sport, but quite another to cheer on an insurrectionist,” wrote one person.” We expected this from Jenny. But you!? Sigh.”

The Hollywood Reporter critic Daniel Fienberg wrote:

“Just watched the 20-second clip from this embarrassing fiasco and that clip of Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger dancing along with Rudy “singing” should accompany anything either of them ever does again in perpetuity.”

"Lost respect for the show, Nicole Scherzinger, Jenny McCarthy, Nick Cannon to even consider having Rudy G. on the show," said someone else. "This is so disgraceful and a slap in the face of democracy. Low-rent."

"Absolutely and f**k Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke, and of course #TheMaskedSinger itself forever for this absolutely disgusting display," another person added. "It's not like they had a lot going for it, but validating this cretin as anything but an insurrectionist traitor is vile."

This viewer added, "Jenny McCarthy has always been trash but Nicole Scherzinger revealed she a clown too. Mess. #TheMaskedSinger."
