The NY Premiere Of "Better Mus' Come" Tonight At Lincoln Center

nullIt's a film I first profiled last March and since then has become a must-see flick on the film festival circuit garnering much buzz.  It even won the "Best Narrative Feature" Award at the 2011 Bahamas International Film Festival.  Now, New Yorkers get a chance to check it out tonight at Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater.

ImageNation and the Film Society of Lincoln Center have joined forces to present the film and its director, Storm Saulter, tonight at 7:00pm.

Dahved Levy of WBLS will be hosting the event which includes a Q&A with the director and music by international reggae/dancehall superstar Mr. Vegas.

Starring in the film are newcomers Sheldon Shepherd, Nicole Sky Grey and Duane Pusey along with veteran actor Roger Guenveur Smith.

Here's a recap of the film:

Passion, politics and poverty collide as this stunning love story unfolds against a backdrop of political turmoil. Set in 1970's Jamaica, Better Mus' Come is based on a violent moment in history when rival gangs were enlisted by warring political factions to disrupt the democratic process, and bloodshed was unleashed in the streets of Jamaica. Better Mus' Come begins in ’77 and ends the in the first couple days of ’78 during the Green Bay Massacre. This explosive film follows Ricky, a gang leader and political pawn, as he struggles to navigate the hardships of life in Kingston, and to define a better way of life for his young son.
