After a couple of years away from feature filmmaking to focus on TV, Tyler Perry will release a brand new Madea film titled “Boo! A Madea Halloween,” which will be distributed by Lionsgate (I guess they’re back in the Tyler Perry business after cutting ties with the mogul in early 2014 – a decision that was said to be mutual between Perry and Lionsgate).

Tyler Perry of course writes, produces, directs, and stars in the latest project with the popular Madea character, which will see the matriarch up to her stockings in the middle of mayhem when she spends “a hilarious, haunted Halloween fending off killers, paranormal poltergeists, ghosts, ghouls, and zombies while keeping a watchful eye on a group of misbehaving teens.”

“Boo!” will also star Bella Thorne as Rain, Cassi Davis as Aunt Bam, Patrice Lovely as Hattie, Andre Hall as Quinton, Yousef Erakat as Jonathan, Lexy Panterra as Leah, Diamond White as Tiffany, Liza Koshy as Aday, Brock O’Hurn as Horse, Jimmy Tatro as Sean, JC Caylen as Mikey, Kian Lawley as Bean Boy, and Mike Tornabene as Dino.

A Madea Halloween’ brings together two great Lionsgate traditions — Madea and a Halloween movie — and we know that audiences will find the combination outrageous, hilarious and unbeatable.”

Ozzie Areu and Will Areu are producers on the film, along with Perry.

An October 21, 2016 release date is set. Hey, it could be fun!! I wouldn’t be surprised at all if this is a big hit for Perry and Lionsgate.
