The Perfect Find, the upcoming rom-com starring and produced by Gabrielle Union, has found its home at Netflix. Also, Numa Perrier is now attached to direct. Deadline first broke this story.

It is based on the bestselling book of the same name by Tia S. Williams. Leigh Davenport adapted the screenplay from Williams’ book.  Jeff Morrone and Black Love creators Tommy Oliver and Codie Elaine Oliver are also producing, as well as Union through her I’ll Have Another production banner. AGC Studios is financing and producing as well. AGC’s Stuart Ford and Glendon Palmer are executive producing, as well as I’ll Have Another’s Holly Shakoor Fleischer.

In the film, Union’s character wants to become a big name in beauty journalism, but the only open job is one where her boss is her frenemy, Darcy. As an older woman, she has to learn how to hang with her younger, social media-obsessed co-workers and keep Darcy off her back. But it gets tougher to do that once she falls in love with Darcy’s son, who also happens to be the new videographer.

The Olivers talked about the project when they stopped by and spoke with us at Shadow and Act in 2018:

Perrier is a multihyphenate who wrote, directed and starred in the 2019 film, Jezebel. The film was picked up by Ava DuVernay’s ARRAY and later bowed on Netflix. It was announced last month that Perrier is developing Toxic, an erotic thriller television series, with MACRO.
