Several of Hollywood’s biggest stars from Black Hollywood are a part of Quibi’s The Princess Bride recreation, all shot remotely. The first part of the event debuted on Monday.

Tiffany Haddish, Common, Keegan-Michael Key and Zazie Beetz are among a star-studded cast, including Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner, Neil Patrick Harris, David Burtka, Andy Serkis, Jack Black, Diego Luna, Hugh Jackman, Taika Waititi, Patton Oswalt, Jon Hamm, Josh Gad, Fred Savage (who will reprise his original role from the film) and The Princess Bride director Rob Reiner. More stars are scheduled to appear, but their names haven’t been released as of yet.

The series was filmed on the stars’ phones while in lockdown over the course of two weeks, and they “trade off” across the film’s scenes. Special effects are of the DIY variety, with LEGO figures standing in as large crowds, a corgi playing the Rodent of Unusual Size, and Jonas playing Princess Buttercup and Turner, Jonas’ wife, playing Westley.

The production benefits chef José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen, which has provided meals to those in need during the pandemic.

Chapter 1 of the remake is now streaming on Quibi. New chapters will debut each day for the next two weeks.
