Is The Punisher coming back to television within the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
During a panel at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo over the weekend, former star on several Netflix Marvel projects member and The Mandalorian star Rosario Dawson may have let it slip that The Punisher could be returning as a new series for Disney+. This could mean fans may see the potential return of The Punisher portrayer Jon Bernthal, who is slated to star in the upcoming Showtime drama American Gigolo.
“I hadn’t heard that announcement, but I found out yesterday that The Punisher was happening again,” said Dawson. “So I feel like it’s my second chance because that was the only one of the shows that I wasn’t in and I love Jon Bernthal. So, let’s all make it happen collectively guys.”

While news of Bernthal’s return to the MCU has not been officially confirmed by Marvel or Disney, the idea of The Punisher arriving to Disney+ got the attention of many MCU fans. However, Dawson immediately backtracked her comments on a Twitter post.

Confirmation is key when you’re told what you want to hear…
“I can’t be trusted…! Getting intel from fans during signings is iffy apparently. My bad,” Dawson said in her Twitter post. “I get excited. Confirmation is key when you’re told what you want to hear.”
Dawson famously portrayed Claire Temple aka the Night Nurse in the Netflix Marvel shows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. She will soon lead Disney+ original Star Wars series, Ahsoka.
